The Römer Family UK/HU

The multicultural Römer family’s history started when violinist Miki Takahashi and violinist-violist Adam Römer met in Canada through their musical studies at The Glenn Gould School Toronto.

They then continued their studies at the Berlin University of Arts, which was followed by an internationally carrier.

Miki won the first prize at the G.P.Telemann and Bruges international competitions in 2005, whereas Adam won principle viola jobs with the famous Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig and Berlin Radio Orchestras.

Since 2009 they live in Birmingham, Adam is Section Leader violist at the City of Birmingham Symphony orchestra, and is lead violinist of the Folktone Band - Eastern European Folk ensemble, Miki is teaching at University of Birmingham and performs regularly with top UK early music groups, such as: Feinstein ensemble, Gabrielli consort, English concert. Recently the Römer family was featured at world music organisation: Muzikstan and the concert series: Bach to baby, with their own Hungarian folk program. Adam and Miki play classical and traditional folk music with their children: Lorand and Lilia. Their repertoire includes classical music and classical crossovers, English, Hungarian and Japanese  traditional music and popular songs. Instruments used by the Römer family are: violin, viola, double bass, tupan or drums, occasionally beaten gardon and piano.
