Taste The Finest Authentic Tokaj Wines At This Year's Góbéfest

Date: August 23, 2024

In 1994 the Count Degenfeld family successfully revived its wine estate in the heart of the Tokaj wine region, ensuring that over 150-year-old tradition lives on with the latest generation. Wine making was closely intertwined with the family’s deep love and respect for nature; therefore, they have cultivated their 35ha of vineyards organically since 2009.

The family only work with native grapes best suited to the unique micro-climate, creating a range of single varietal wines with award-winning credentials. The bunches are hand-harvested and carefully vinified with minimal intervention. As a result, you are tasting an authentic drop of the volcanic Tokaj terroir with every sip you take. The estate is composed of a historic wine cellar, winery, a four stars Castle Hotel and a hilltop chapel all in one location.

Máté Tóth became the Managing Director of the Gróf Degenfeld Estate at 25 years of age. His studies in France and Germany included Wine and Vine sciences and management. Mr. Tóth has experiences from wine regions all over the world and his main focus is sustainable management and education about the human-nature relationship. He is often judging at international wine competitions.

Máté Tóth will be hosting an exclusive presentation and wine tasting session at Góbéfest this year on Saturday evening, so if you are a wine lover, you know where you have to be!
