Bulgarian Rhythms Leeds was founded in 2022 by Rali Denisheva, inspired by the success of our children’s performance of traditional Bulgarian folk dances. Motivated by their enthusiasm, we - the parents - decided to take part ourselves and reconnect with our cultural roots. What began as a fun, shared experience soon developed into a dynamic dance group.
Our group welcomes individuals of all ages and skill levels, united by a love for Bulgarian culture. We perform a variety of traditional dances from different regions of Bulgaria, including the vibrant horo of Northern Bulgaria to the soulful steps of the Rhodope Mountains. Our mission is to celebrate Bulgarian culture through traditional music, costumes, and the powerful rhythms of our folk dances. Through these performances, we aim to preserve our heritage and engage with the wider community.
Bulgarian Rhythms Leeds regularly participates in local festivals, cultural and private events, proudly showcasing Bulgarian traditions. We are more than just a dance group, we are a community - sharing rhythms, stories, and lasting friendships.
