Joe Keegan is a singer, songwriter and musician from Manchester. Influenced by his background in Irish folk music, Joe brings folk-inspired songwriting and storytelling to a contemporary audience.
His debut EP Pick Myself Up was a real flag in the sand moment for the
21 year old artist. Since its release in February 2018 it has
accumulated over 35,000 streams on Spotify alone, as well as over 50,000
views across social media.
Joe’s latest single Wild Winds is his
most heavily folk influenced yet. He wrote it whilst touring the west
coast of Ireland with the Mayo Manchester Tradfest last summer, and is
the first of many singles to be released by Joe and the band this year.
After appearing on The Voice UK in 2014 Joe pursued a career in music
and enrolled at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. He
formed the band that went into the studio with him to record the Pick
Myself Up EP, featuring BBC 2 Folk Award and All-Ireland winning fiddle
player Ciaran Algar.
The Weather Could Be Better is the opening song
on the EP and really showcases how gifted Ciaran is as well as the rest
of the band (Fraser Grant – bass, Dave Smith – drums, Tom Knight – lead
guitar and Andrew Jones – keyboards).
